To get smoke something has to be burning, to exit the engine something has to be under pressure, either of these would indicate a semi serious fault. It’s had some work done but one thing not being covered is a front main oil seal leak, apparently a flange low down around the cambelt/tensioner. It’s a cambelt off and drop the sump job.
20 Nov 2023. #1. Decided to do an oil test on 4 year old T6 with Miller Oils at 12k miles after 12 months (long life oil supplied by VW). Reason for testing was to check if I need to do oil change before Christmas (busy time) Test came back with soot at 2.7% with advisory to change oil immediately. All other measurements were OK, little bit lowlfecSgh.
